Beyond Sexting

Beyond Sexting

Using your phone to improve your relationship

Good Date? We all know our personal technology – our phones and tablets can be the cause of fights with our partner, but can our phones help us connect with those we love most – YES!  After all, it’s a phone!

Call and text each other – stay connected during the day.  Check in.  Share your thoughts and experiences with each other.  Say nice things and text encouragement (aka love texts).

But don’t call and text too much… be very careful about stalking your partner throughout the day with demanding suspicious text and calls.  Be careful about expecting that they always answer, or that they must return your call or text within 5 minutes.  When your partner is at work, let them work.  How many texts and calls are too much?  Ask your partner; they know.

Share your day!  A few times during the day send pictures, web links, blog posts, and your ideas with your partner.  Be active in sharing what you’re doing, thinking, and feeling with your partner – don’t leave them out of your day.

Record a love voice or video message (HeyTell) for your partner on their phone.  This is a great way to hear from you even when work or travel precludes more immediate contact.  And make it a family affair and include the kids in the message!

Share a calendar (Wunderlist).  One way to avoid some arguments over scheduling conflicts is a shared calendar – this is a great way to include each other in work and social planning.

Find apps that help heat up your love life.  Kindu helps couples explore their sexuality.  iKamasutra helps you find some new positions and identify yourTexting Bill? favorites.  And use your creativity!  I recently heard about a couple playing Strip Angry Birds and Naughty Words with Friends.

You phone is an amazing tool for staying connected with those you love, and there are lots of great apps to help!  Share how you’re using your device at www.facebook.com/dr.mattmorris
